FAQ
Who benefits from Rolfing?
Rolfing is the method of choice for treating pains of the musculoskeletal system like back, neck or knee pain if these were caused by inefficient movement patterns and an insufficient body alignment. It is further well-suited for people that wish to improve their posture and walk more erect through life. Also people into sports, dancers, singers, musicians and actors profit from the method because for these people an optimal functioning of the body is essential.
How long does a Rolfing session take?
A Rolfing session usually takes 60 to 75 minutes. As an exception a few minutes more or less can also be possible.
What happens in a Rolfing session?
At the beginning of the session the rolfer has a look at you from different sides to analyze body structure and movement patterns. Then you lie down relaxed on a massage table while the rolfer is working on the fascia. From the outside this looks like a form of slow deep-tissue massage. Toward the end of the session you stand up again and movement and perception exercises take place to stabilize the result.
What does a Rolfing session cost?
For adults I charge 70 Euros per session. Discounts are available for children, adolescents and in the case of financial difficulties. A try-out session is free for everyone.
How many sessions should I take?
There is a classic series of 10 sessions that addresses all parts of the body in a systematic way. In the beginning it is not necessary to commit to the full series. After a few sessions clear changes should already be noticeable. If that is not the case the sessions should not be continued. For some people with already good alignment less sessions are necessary.
Does Rolfing hurt?
During the work there can be painful moments. You are defining your limits which I will respect.
How much time should be between two sessions?
There should be between one and four weeks between the sessions. In my experience two to three weeks are optimal.
Is Rolfing paid by my health insurance?
Rolfing is not covered by public health insurances. The situation may be different if you are privately insured or have an insurance that covers heilpraktiker services. Please ask your insurance about the details of coverage in this case. In some cases it is possible to deduct costs for Rolfing sessions from your taxes, please refer to a tax accountant for details.
How long do the results last?
This is different. Often the results of the 10 series are stable and even improve some time after the session by its own. It is helpful if you manage to actively participate in the process and integrate new perception patterns in your daily life.
When should Rolfing not be used?
Rolfing should not be used in the case of severe, systemic diseases such as infections, cancer or rheumatic disorders.
